Drop spin - a simple stylish Rock n Roll dance move
Every man knows that if you turn your back on a pretty lady she might be gone in a flash. If you should happen to drop her hand you might never grasp it again. But there's good news! The drop spin. If you can perform this simple, stylish dance move well, the lady won't be offended. Instead, she'll stick around for more!
The camera captured Michael and Cheryl performing a drop spin - a simple stylish drop spin at Lorna's Dance Studio in Somerton, South Australia where they were sharpening their Jive skills. An interesting point is that a rough-dancing male would find this move hard to perform.
The move begins man's left-hand to woman's right-hand. The man raises their hands and as the lady turns anti-clockwise, he does the same, ducking underneath their clasped hands. He then brings their hands down and releases the lady's hand onto his right shoulder.
At this point he tries his luck. First, he turns away to give her a seemingly cold shoulder. He then releases her hand onto his shoulder and moves forward slightly to drop her hand, with his own right-hand strategically waiting behind his back. If he catches her hand, she hasn't shot through!
To complete the move, he gives her hand a gentle push and she spins clockwise while he spins anticlockwise. Michael's brain is ticking over figuring out the next move while the couple are turning.
The drop spin move requires the man to learn to be in motion. The chap who just stands on the spot spinning and twirling the woman again and again isn't very exciting to watch and can be a bit boring for many ladies. Getting mobile and learning to spin is a great way for a man to improve his dancing.
