These disabled kids experienced rock n roll.
On the morning of Thursday, 7th December 2007, highly popular musical duo Boris Loves To Boogie set up their equipment in the gymnasium of the Suneden Special School at Mitchell Park, South Australia. This gig was unusual in that the audience consisted of several dozen children with various intellectual disabilities. These included Down's Syndrome and Angelman's Syndrome.

Of course, top-class Rock n Roll music is wasted without dancing, so good mates Gareth and June came along to give the children a display of 1950's Rock n Roll dancing. Many of them would never have seen such a thing before, so it was a special treat.
Once the music began the kids - and the teachers - wasted little time in getting involved. They may not have spun like the pro dancers did but they tried their best. It was an hour of solid fun for the children, teachers, musicians and demonstration dancers alike.
If you have a dance group, consider giving some delight to disabled kids in your district. The experience at Suneden school was just as enjoyable for the children as it was for the performers. It's also a good way to help promote our favourite dance and music style.
If you're ever in Adelaide and searching for some evening entertainment, look up Boris Loves to Boogie in the local gig guide. You won't be disappointed.
