It seems some pedestrian crossing lights in Friedberg are a bit more lively than usual, according to German news outlet The Local. Read more about it on their website. The article doesn't specify whether or not pedestrians using the crossing must do the 'Elvis walk' featured in Jailhouse Rock. We'll bet some will have a go at it.

How amazing that more than fifty years since his heyday an artist can still be popular enough to celebrate in this fashion. The local connection is that the lights are in Elvis Presley Square which is close to where he lived in 1958 while an American GI in Germany.
There's a Beethoven traffic light in Bonn, so Elvis isn't alone in this. Beethoven might be rolling over if he was left out.
This tribute is truly a marvellous way to celebrate the talent and contributions to our well being, enjoyment and quality of life made by outstanding individuals. It's also a way of reinforcing in the minds of younger generations the important role historic figures played in the evolution of music to today's current styles.
