Just Like Eddie by Heinz

If you want a track with a good medium-fast rock n roll beat that captures the atmosphere of the early 1960s, you can't go wrong with Just Like Eddie.

Heinz Burt was the bass player for the ill-fated band The Tornados. Like their worldwide hit Telstar, Just Like Eddie  was  produced by Joe Meek, hence the similar sound. It's quite unusual in that although the beat is strong and exciting, the tone of the song is a bit softer than other rock n roll hits of the era. It has a soul-searching feel rather than a 'let's rock' feel. For that reason you wouldn't label it a great dance track, but you can certainly include it any set  where good dance songs are required.

Excerpt from From Wikipedia:

"The song was a tribute to American rock 'n' roll pioneer Eddie Cochran.[2] The song was produced and engineered by Joe Meek and was released via the record label Decca in 1963.[3] The guitar on the track was played by Ritchie Blackmore.[4] The song written by Joe Meek's associate Geoff Goddard.[5] The song is Heinz's only successful song as a solo artist after it entered the top 20 in the UK charts.[6] The song peaked at number 5 on the chart.[4] The B-side featured with the song was titled "Don't You Knock On My Door".[7]
Reception[edit]

In his book, "Rock & Roll: Facts, Figures & Fun", Mike Evans said that it was a tribute record that was not opportunistic like others because it was released three years after Cochran's death.[4]"
