Rock n Roll dance songs - Psychotic Reaction by Count Five - 1965
Psychotic Reaction is an interesting track to dance rock 'n' roll to. It has some very awkward up-tempo switches at several points. You wouldn't ordinarily include it in a playlist for dancing unless you want to catch people out wondering what to do when the music throws them.
If you want to play a prank on dancers, this is the track to do it with. You might see a psychotic reaction or two on the dance floor.
But for teachers or those who want to challenge themselves in being able to handle whatever comes along without looking bewildered and/or red-faced in front of a crowd, it's an interesting exercise.
A good hint to handling the speed-up sections is that the underlying beat doesn't actually change. Just keep dancing. Switch to a basic back-step, or take the lady in a ballroom hold and shuffle until the tempo returns to normal.
Always aim to look cool on the dance floor no matter what happens.
