Let's perform The Pretzel - a complex dance move
You don’t need to be as skinny as a pretzel to perform this move, you just need very flexible arms. You might like to practice it to the Beatles song “Octopus’s Garden”, because you will feel like one of the said cephalopods by the time you’ve done it a few times.
Step 1. Holding the lady's right hand in your left, give her hand a gentle push to move her away from you.
Step 2. As she reaches the outstretched arm position, offer your right hand behind your back. This is the signal for the move. Remember that she can't read your mind. Make sure your body is angles in such a way that she can actually see your hand.
Step 3. The lady takes the man's right hand in her left and the couple now move back to back.
Step 4. Initially the man's left arm is raised. as the lady moves across behind him, he will need to lower his left arm and raise his right arm. At that point it will be behind the lady's head. Just lift the right arm a bit higher and take both of your arms over the lady's head so that it they are in front of her face.
Step 5. She can now turn to face you. Still holding her left arm in your right, you can now lift your right hand over your own head and you can now turn to face her. Keep your right hand low, around the lady's waist height.
Step 6. You will find that your're now in a position to lift your left arm over the lady's head and take her in a cuddle, position on your right side.
That's the pretzel completed. It's possible to perform the move in reverse, but we'll come to that in another post.
